Jubiläumskonzert - 50 Jahre Studierendenorchester Münster
In the organizer's words:
The Münster Student Orchestra is celebrating its
50th anniversary. Since 1976, the orchestra has been a defining part of the cultural life of the university
and the city of Münster, offering students and music lovers from the region
the opportunity to perform major symphonic works together on stage. For the
anniversary, current and former members are coming together to look back on five
decades of the orchestra’s history and, at the same time, look toward the
future.
In keeping with this special occasion, the orchestra, under the direction of
Farhad Garayusifli, a program that connects different eras and soundscapes
. From the festive radiance of Richard Strauss’s “Vienna Philharmonic
"Fanfare" to the operatic verve of Otto Nicolai’s overture
to “The Merry Wives of Windsor” to George Gershwin’s colorful
“An American in Paris”—the program spans the musical
diversity of the past centuries. The highlight of the evening is Gustav
Mahler’s monumental Symphony No. 1 in D major, which, with its tension-filled
combination of natural idyll, drama, and triumphant new beginnings, fully exploits the musical
expressive capabilities of the orchestra.
Alumni, friends, supporters, and all music lovers are cordially invited to
celebrate this special anniversary together with the orchestra.
