Grand Symphonic Music Meets Film and Video Game Music

The Wetterau Youth Symphony Orchestra returns to the concert stage in 2026 with a diverse program. Under the baton of Daniel Stratievsky, young musicians from across the Wetterau region will perform major works from the orchestral repertoire as well as familiar tunes from films and video games.

The program features the spirited overture to Jacques Offenbach’s “Orpheus in the Underworld,” two movements from Hector Berlioz’s monumental “Symphonie fantastique,” and music from Edvard Grieg’s famous “Peer Gynt.” Providing an exciting contrast are music from the classic video game “Super Mario,” Klaus Doldinger’s legendary film score for “Das Boot,” and John Williams’ powerful “Superman March.”

Daniel Stratievsky will once again serve as conductor; he has been leading the Wetterau Youth Symphony Orchestra since 2022. Since 2016, the Wetterau Youth Symphony Orchestra has been bringing together young musical talents from the region. String, wind, and percussion players aged 12 to 19 are given the opportunity to work together on challenging symphonic works and perform them as part of an intensive orchestral program.

The Wetterau Youth Symphony Orchestra is a joint project of the Wetterau music schools in Bad Nauheim, Bad Vilbel, Karben, Büdingen, Butzbach, and Friedberg, together with the Augustinerschule in Friedberg, the Ernst-Ludwig-Schule in Bad Nauheim, and other high schools in the Wetterau region. The Bad Nauheim Music School is responsible for project management and organization.

The 2026 project is sponsored by the community foundation “Ein Herz für Bad Nauheim,” Oberhessische Versorgungsbetriebe AG, the Förderverein Musikschule Bad Nauheim e. V., and private patrons.
