Julia Heyward: Miracles in Reverse

With Miracles in Reverse, the Kunstverein Nürnberg - Albrecht Dürer Gesellschaft is presenting the first institutional solo exhibition in Europe by US artistJulia Heyward (1949).

Heyward, a formative figure in the New York downtown scene of the 1970s and 1980s, combines performance, video, music and text to explore themes such as faith, class and gender. Her work combines conceptual art with emotional narration and experiments early on with fluid identities.

The exhibition presents self-portraits, video performances and music shown for the first time in a scenography by Celeste Burlina, accompanied by a film program by Elisa R. Linn and Lennart Wolff.
