Born in New York and based in Los Angeles, multi-instrumentalist, composer, bandleader and producer Julius Rodriguez breaks all boundaries and presents a unique sound that belongs only to him. On his latest album "Evergreen", he juggles elements of jazz, gospel, hip-hop, classical and electronica. Keyboard sounds, vocoder and digital drums meet rich melody and harmony parts, the whole thing sounds ultra-modern, is as catchy as it is complex and is immediately catchy. While on the previous album "Let Sound Tell All" he largely confined himself to his main instruments of piano and drums, here he also plays bass, guitar and clarinet alongside various keyboards and percussion.

When asked about genres, he has a clear and beautiful answer: "I hope you listen to this and forget the whole genre label thing," he says. "This is just music you can dance, feel and think to. Evergreen goes through a whole range of genres, but this is the world I see and hear. That's the feeling I evoke. I made a statement and said, "The genre is just me". In short, Julius Rodriguez embodies the true spirit of jazz by leading it into the future, completely liberated.

Anyone who demonstrates such mature musicality at the age of 25 must be entitled to the title of prodigy. Rodriguez is a multi-talented musician: mastering the piano and harmony helps him to play the drums, which in turn helps him to better grasp the rhythmic dimension of the piano, he says. His career in brief: at the age of twelve at the Manhattan School of Music, his first gigs at fourteen, then at the legendary Julliard. At the Betty Carter Workshop, he was taught by Jason Moran, among others. He has since worked with Wynton Marsalis, Roy Hargrove and Meshell Ndegeocello and was a member of the Onyx Collective.
