For decades, Jürgen Valdeig has been shaping the cultural face of our city with his work. As a painter, author and researcher, he has made it his mission to capture Erfurt in all its facets. His special talent lies in his ability to capture the soul of the city in luminous watercolors - with an eye for details that are often overlooked and a deep love for his homeland.

The Erfurt Art Calendar has been published with his works for 35 years - a tradition that brings joy to many people every year and brings Erfurt to life in living rooms and offices far beyond our city limits. In addition, Jürgen Valdeig and his art shop in Kettenstraße are an integral part of city life and a valued Erfurt resident whose artistic dedication and historical curiosity enrich our understanding of the city's history.

On the occasion of his 75th birthday, Jürgen Valdeig presents us with an impressive retrospective of his life's work in the art book "Erfurt - a painterly journey through time". With 140 watercolors, he invites us to see Erfurt through his eyes, to trace historical developments and perhaps also to discover new details in familiar views of the city. The detailed explanations of his works show how intensively he studied the history and architecture of Erfurt.

This work is far more than a collection of impressive pictures. It is a tribute to our city and a lasting legacy from an artist who felt a deep connection to Erfurt.
