Jurte Reloaded - Neue Wohnformen - Ausstellungsgespräch

In the organizer's words:

Talk with Jana Caroline Reimer and Johanna Wild , moderated by Manuel Bolz

After Soviet state control, collectivization and the transition to a free market economy from the 1990s onwards, many Mongolians moved to the cities, which is why large yurt (ger) settlements were built on the outskirts. The exhibition gives visitors an insight into the Rural Urban Framework design and research network (led by Joshua Bolchover, University of Hong Kong), which has been based here since 2016. The project focuses on the challenges faced by people living in ger settlements. The designs of Rural Urban Framework can be adapted to the specific needs of the residents and can be expanded step by step. In the conversation, we will discuss new yurt-inspired forms of housing in the present, ideas of social coexistence in rural and urban spaces and the role of innovative designs.

The event will be held in German in the yurt exhibition. Meeting point: foyer.
