"The CORRECTIV Story" is a journalistic experience report, a workshop report on media change and a call to get involved. Readers learn how investigative work works today, how journalistic formats have to change - and how this affects us all. "The CORRECTIV Story" is also a very personal story about new beginnings, inspiration and impact. It shows how everyone can stand up for democracy in an increasingly polarized society. Founder and publisher David Schraven writes with great openness about his own path: his roots in the Ruhr region, recurring doubts, but also about the conviction that independent journalism is more than just a profession - it is a mission. "In the battle for democracy, there is no certificate of participation for second place," he writes. "There is only victory or nothing at all."
The new publication from CORRECTIV Verlag is aimed at media enthusiasts, democrats, journalists and anyone who wants to understand how investigative journalism works in Germany - and why it is more important today than ever.
CORRECTIV started over ten years ago with seven employees - today, more than 180 people work for the largest media company in the German-speaking world that is oriented towards the common good. "The CORRECTIV Story" tells of setbacks and headwinds, but also of major successes - such as the "Secret Plan against Germany" investigation, which sparked an unprecedented political uproar across Germany in 2024.
Justus von Daniels, editor-in-chief of CORRECTIV's investigative editorial team, will present the CORRECTIV story in Erfurt and provide insights into the exciting everyday life of investigative journalists.
