Experience a moment of peace and musical depth in the festive atmosphere of the Kreuzkirche Dresden. On Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 17:00, the chamber choir Cantabile Dresden invites you to a special vespers in the Advent season.

The program combines masterful sacred choral music from different eras, which puts us in the mood for the upcoming Christmas celebrations. You can look forward to the familiar and touching sounds of Johannes Petzold's "Die Nacht ist vorgedrungen" in a contemporary setting by Jürgen Essl, as well as Johannes Brahms' profound "O Heiland, reiß die Himmel auf". Jan Åke Hillerud sets contemporary accents with "Veni, Emmanuel", James MacMillan's enraptured "O Radiant Dawn" and Trond H. F. Kverno's "Canticum Zachariae".

There is a special focus on music from the Baroque period, including Heinrich Schütz's comforting "Tröstet, tröstet mein Volk" and the festive "Det är en ros utsprungen" ("A rose has sprung") by Michael Praetorius in a fascinating setting by Jan Sandström. This vespers will highlight the Andreas Hammerschmidt anniversary in 2025 on the 350th anniversary of his death. His famous Advent piece "Machet die Tore weit" will be performed in his honor.
