The 36 singers of the Chamber Choir of the Detmold University of Music are happy to hear them again in this hour. Conductor Anne Kohler has a "knack" for eliciting both radiant and subtle sounds from the ensemble. Many prizes testify to this, including first prize at the German Choir Competition in Weimar. For this evening, she has chosen music from the 19th and 20th centuries, bringing us as close to the bizarrely luminous sounds of Poulenc as to the profound Finzi and the creative originality of the young American Shaw. Her experimental techniques are reminiscent of the songs of the indigenous peoples of America. Above all, the question is: How can man speak to his God?
