The composer and singer Oona Kastner is a member of the Dortmund big band "The Dorf". In her own solo and band projects ,she sees herself as a wanderer between worlds, arts, times and styles, even when she composes sound for radio plays, theater productions or choreographies .Kastner has invited two renowned musicians and an experienced shadow puppeteer to update the Cassandra myth for the present day. Japanese-born pianist Rieko Okuda and Portuguese-born percussionist Sofia Borges performat dozens of concert halls and festivals around the world and are well connected with a wide variety of international artists from the fields of contemporary music, improvised music and free jazz.Dortmund-based performer Angelika Hoffmann specializesin the equivalency of abstract light and experimental music. She has been running the interdisciplinary project space "Parzelle" at the Depot cultural venue for 30 years, where the sound performance "Kassandrae" will celebrate its premiere on Sunday, June 30, at 4:00 pm.

Cassandra, gifted with the gift of sight, is punished by the god Apollo when she rejects his seductive wishes. From then on, no one believes her prophecies.

Inspired by texts from antiquity and modern times ,the four artists feel called upon to question the present day: what fantasies and stories are needed today to shape the future sensibly? They draw on new and improvised music, minimalist patterns, repetitive structures, soundscapes between minimal music, drone, noise and dark ambient and present a rousing sound performance between composed rigor and an outburst into spontaneity.
