In her lecture, award-winning literary translator Kirsten Brandt will introduce you to Catalan history and culture. Here you will learn how cultural identity is linked to language, why the 20th century was very changeable for Catalan culture and what makes Catalonia what it is today.

Kirsten Brandt has recently translated mainly novels from Catalan, for example the Barcelona trilogy by Montserrat Roig (together with Ursula Bachhausen). Language, culture and feminism play an essential role in these novels.
