Now the day has come.
Almost three years after the first edition of 'Kellerbier und Mate' in May 2022, it's over for now. Erlangen is almost bankrupt, and the E-Werk also has to save money. The 18th edition marks the temporary end of the unusual late-night show, which always started very late (9 pm) and never ended before midnight.
What did we think of the show back then?
"Why a late night show?
We want to put on an evening that allows us to combine everything we want to do: Politics, interviews, DJing, humor, live music, stage literature, fun, interactive audience participation, slam lyrics, good vibes. Nicolas Schmidt stands for Gen X (Kellerbier), Yannik Ambrusits for Gen Z (Mate), without giving the generational thing too much obvious space. We invite guests who either have something to say or something to sing. And we talk a lot ourselves.
What can the audience expect?
A structured jumble of serious and anarchic interviews, serious and funny slam texts, serious and playful songs, serious and wacky DJing (Moormann), serious and strange breaks to catch your breath, exchange ideas, go to the loo and get a beer, and all kinds of serious and useless shenanigans without comedy and stand-up."
Only our audience can decide whether we have succeeded in living up to this claim. In the last show for the time being, things will get really busy again: firstly, for the first and only time, we'll be starting at 8 p.m. so that we can celebrate with you afterwards. Secondly, as always, we have illustrious guests from the worlds of politics and music.
Hanna Wanke is the district chairwoman of DIE LINKE, active in Junge Linke and GEW, 23 years old, born and raised in the Anger district of Erlangen and half Austrian. She is studying sociology at FAU. Her political focus is on education and justice.
Jakob Mayer is no stranger to the 'Kellerbier und Mate' stage. He was already our musical guest at the first edition of our show in May 2022, bringing us full circle. Jakob Mayer is not only a wonderful musician and songwriter, but also a bizarre bird who oscillates on stage between absolute relaxation, irresistible sing-along parts, wacky loop station experiments and beat box hyperventilation.
We are looking forward to celebrating one last glittering late night with our two guests, our resident DJ Moormann and our loyal audience. Be there, come on time (admission 7 pm, start 8 pm!), and then we'll keep on looking, on and on.
