A thematic group exhibition for the 9th Hamburg Photography Triennial. Moving between encounter, experience, and insight, the works on display explore the processes of getting to know—people, spaces, structures, and perspectives. The exhibition at the xpon-art gallery runs from Thursday, July 23, to Saturday, August 22, 2026. The opening reception is on July 23, 2026, at 7 p.m.

Getting to know someone doesn’t begin with conversation. It arises from a glance, a touch, a chance encounter, a memory, or the traces left behind by people, animals, and objects. The 13 artistic works brought together in the exhibition open up diverse perspectives on encounter, perception, and relationship. They tell of fleeting moments of connection as well as the processes of remembering, searching, and understanding. In this way, a multifaceted mosaic unfolds, revealing how we encounter others—and ourselves.
