Discover Berlin - Guided tour through the new center!

After a winter break, I'm starting my popular tour again on Sunday, 17.04.2025, at 14:00: "Berlin's new center".

I'm Markus, a true Berliner, born here in Mitte in 1968. I will take you on an exciting journey through time around the site of the former Tacheles and the newly designed Forum on Museum Island.

The tour is the result of two years of research in archives, books, conversations with contemporary witnesses - and not least my own memories. I bring along unpublished photos and videos and tell you gripping stories.

The history of the Tacheles building - now only a tenth of the former Friedrichstrasse arcade - goes back to 1908. Back then, one of the most modern arcade department stores in the world was built here. We walk through the eventful history of this place, from the imperial era to today's "Fotografiska".

At the Forum on Museum Island, we continue with the history of the Telegraph Office, Post Office, Telephone Office, Gropius Ensemble and much more. Architecturally and historically highly interesting!
