Kino im Hafen - Der Himmel über Berlin

In the organizer's words:

It's finally time again for the cult movie event of the year!

On Friday. August 2, "Der Himmel über Berlin" (1987) by German director Wim Wenders opens the Kino im Hafen.

The award-winning film is a wonderful homage to life in the divided city of Berlin: as unobtrusive and silent observers, the angels Damiel and Cassiel follow the lives and fates of many of Berlin's souls. They encounter the fears of the city's inhabitants, listen to the hopes and wishes of Berliners and thus lead us to familiar and forgotten places of the divided Berlin of 1987. Until the day Damiel meets the trapeze artist Marion and exchanges his heavenly life for an earthly one.

"From the very beginning, "The Sky Over Berlin" is more of a single visualized poem than an "ordinary" film. If ever there was such a thing as cinematic poetry, then it finds its essence here." (Peter Handke, 1987)

If you want to secure a nice seat, you should arrive in good time, hopefully there will be a beautiful sunset for free on top. You are welcome to bring your garden chairs and folding loungers, some seating is available on site. You can either bring a snack or buy food and drinks on site.

Free admission, of course, but there are delicious discounts for a small donation.
