The film accompanies rescue missions in the Mediterranean and documents the living conditions in camps at Europe's external borders. It gives a voice to refugees who have survived the dangerous journey to Europe. The focus is on the interaction between state policy and civil society involvement as well as the influence of a social shift to the right on migration policy. The increasing criminalization of refugee movements and the challenges faced by humanitarian aid organizations such as Sea-Eye are addressed. Personal stories of flight will be complemented by reflections on the role of fear discourses and populist narratives in the political agenda.
