"A tribute to life" is how Anne Wollner describes the film adaptation of Stephen King's short story in NDR, and indeed this film (like the literary source) is a celebration of life. And although the end of the world is already announced in the first chapter, we are not treated to a "disaster movie", but to an essentially (and this is to be taken literally) light-footed and at the same time profound examination of philosophical and existential questions in the form of an exciting thought experiment. It is a thought-provoking film that celebrates the tragedy and beauty of life and carries us away - a small cinematic miracle.
