The familiar noises of a supermarket checkout, a routine grab, a last glance through the shelves. In Berlin-Moabit, a place of everyday life disappears. The small supermarket "nah und gut" is giving way to a new building with (luxury) apartments. Over five years, filmmaker Paul Sonntag, who lives two houses away, accompanies the process of change with a calm, concentrated camera. In long takes, he observes people in their everyday working lives and also leaves room for subtle, humorous moments. The precise observation of an inconspicuous street corner becomes a sensitive portrait of urban transformation. Farewells and new beginnings intertwine, the familiar lives on in a new form. Images quietly emerge that have an impact beyond the movie.

"Nothing remains and nothing disappears" premiered at the Max Ophüls Preis film festival in Saarbrücken in January 2026.
