KKB x NEUS Neuer Hafen Bremerhaven, Siebdruck und Limited Edition-Fächer
In the organizer's words:
Once again this year, the Kunsthalle & Kunstmuseum Bremerhaven will be represented with its own container at the NEUS Festival during the Maritime Days. From August 12 to 16, visitors can look forward to a program featuring art, hands-on activities, and a new limited edition.
The focus is on the video work *Neuer Hafen Bremerhaven* (1997) by Swedish artist Cecilia Edefalk. The work was created during her Bremerhaven residency in 1996–97 and is now part of the collection of the Kunstverein Bremerhaven. In serene black-and-white shots, Edefalk turns her gaze toward the New Harbor and observes the interplay of water, movement, and harbor architecture. From an everyday snapshot of the city, she develops a poetic exploration of a place that continues to shape Bremerhaven to this day.
Building on this work, we invite Marlene Rehbein, a research fellow at the Historisches Museum Bremerhaven, to provide a brief historical overview. She takes visitors on a journey through time to the planning efforts surrounding the Old and New Harbors in the 1990s, thereby offering an exciting historical perspective on the location featured in the film. As a counterpart to this, our “Lunchtime and After-Work Views” sessions with art educator Nico Rosenfeld will introduce the work and artistic practice of Cecilia Edefalk.
In collaboration with WERK e. V., an open screen-printing workshop will also be offered. Among other things, participants will print designs inspired by works from the current collection exhibition *From the Collection* at the Kunstmuseum Bremerhaven.
Following on from last year’s KKB X NEUS Edition, a new limited edition is also being released: an exclusive fan, designed for the NEUS Festival and available exclusively at the KKB container throughout the festival.
Free admission to the festival grounds and our supporting program is available throughout the entire NEUS Festival.
We look forward to seeing you there!
