The Passion story as a work of linguistic art? No German-language text can compete with Klopstock's "Messiah" in this respect. In almost 20,000 verses, the monumental epic celebrates the death of Christ as a process of universal reconciliation and - Klopstock was an enthusiastic supporter of the French Revolution - drags the tyrants of all times before the world court. Senthuran Varatharajah invites you to discover the epic and Klopstock's sublimely exalted language in the form of a staged reading, with musical commentary by Fabian Saul. The first part, "Crucifixion", is based on a radically abridged version of Cantos 1 to 10. The second part will follow on April 4.
