In the organizer's words:

KMFDM (originally “Kein Mehrheit Für Die Mitleid,” loosely translated by the band as “No Pity for the Majority”) is a multinational industrial band from Hamburg. It is led by Sascha Konietzko, who founded the band in Paris in 1984 as a performance art project.

The first albums were recorded in Germany before the band moved to the U.S., where it enjoyed greater success—particularly with the influential Chicago-based label Wax Trax! Records. In the 1990s, KMFDM continued to evolve with a frequently changing lineup and became a fixture on the U.S. music scene.

The 1995 hit “Juke Joint Jezebel” earned the band a spot on the Billboard charts and numerous soundtrack appearances, including for the films *Bad Boys * and *Mortal Kombat*.

Bands like Rammstein and Korn took the stage as opening acts on KMFDM tours early in their careers. In 1999, the band took a brief hiatus after recording their tenth album for Wax Trax, which had since been acquired by TVT Records.

In 2002, Konietzko revived KMFDM at Metropolis Records with a partially new lineup. This included, among others, the American singer Lucia Cifarelli (from DRILL) and Tim Skold, who later became a member of Marilyn Manson.

In the 2000s, the band regularly released studio albums and toured extensively. In 2008, Konietzko and Cifarelli moved back to Germany. Across more than 25 studio albums and countless singles, dozens of musicians have collaborated with KMFDM. Konietzko has remixed artists such as Metallica, White Zombie, Front 242, Living Colour, and Megadeth, among others.

Critics consider KMFDM one of the first bands to make industrial music accessible to a broader mainstream audience. Konietzko himself describes the band’s style as “The Ultra-Heavy Beat.” The music combines heavy metal guitar riffs with electronic elements as well as male and female vocals, and encompasses genres such as industrial rock and electronic body music, as well as influences from reggae and dub.

Thematically, KMFDM is strongly political; many of their lyrics take a clear stand against violence, war, and oppression. The band goes on tour after nearly every major release and is known for its close connection to fans—both online and at concerts.

KMFDM’s latest album is set to be released in February 2026.
