Material theater for curious senses | Freely adapted from Hansel and Gretel by the Brothers Grimm | Adapted by Rike Schuberty

Scratching bread crumbs, rustling forest leaves, growling stomachs, oven heat, gusts of wind and smacking gingerbread - there is a lot to experience in the Grimm classic, and with all your senses. But which one shows you the way, which one do you use to find your way? Which one do you use the most - seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, touching? Take all your favorite senses with you to KNUSPER KNUSPER. Together we will celebrate the diversity of our perceptions. Can you hear a noise coming from the darkness? Did you just see something scurry around the corner? What is that smell that suddenly reaches your nose? And do the others perceive it in the same way - or are they experiencing something completely different?

The audience accompanies Hansel and Gretel through the forest as they stumble into the arms of the greedy witch, abandoned by their parents. What lures them onto the right track and what lures them onto the wrong track? How much fun can discovering the unknown be? With the interweaving of sound, material, text and light, the forest is transformed from a large maze into a multi-sensory playground, and not just for Hansel and Gretel.

In preparation for KNUSPER KNUSPER, we are working with blind, visually impaired and sighted rehearsal groups to find out together how we can make theater more accessible. With this production, we would like to invite everyone to explore their senses and trust their personal perception - especially those who often feel that they are missing out on something due to a visual impairment. Because it is only with all our different perspectives and impressions that the KNUSPER forest is created, from which we can only find our way out together, not alone.
