On July 12, the dance theater production “Nachtbegegnung,” featuring live music by Björn Raithel, will have its world premiere in the Tithe Barn on the grounds of Heisterbach Abbey.
Visitors can look forward to a musical performance in the form of a conversational concert featuring a dance interpretation.
The story is loosely inspired by Wolf Erlbruch’s book “Nachts.” In the story, the protagonist, Fenna, cannot sleep and ventures out into the city at night with her tired mother. There, she encounters fantastical figures and experiences wondrous moments that her mother does not perceive. At the end, a figure throws a ball to her. When Fenna wakes up the next morning, the ball is actually there. What was a dream, and what was reality? “Nachtbegegnung” is a poetic ode to the imagination.
“Nachtbegegnung” is a collaboration between the duo Lea Hüttemann (flutes) and Felix Recker (guitar) and students from Claudio Romero’s ballet class.
The composition by Björn Raithel—who will be present that evening—dates from the year 2025 and consists of three nocturnes and two interludes. Raithel studied composition in Düsseldorf, Salzburg, and Munich and has been awarded several international prizes. He is currently a lecturer in music theory at the Düsseldorf University of Music. He also leads a youth composition class at the Düsseldorf Music School.
Felix Reckers, a longtime student in Götz Berger’s guitar class, has already made a name for himself as an accomplished and sought-after musician. Lea Hüttemann, a flute student of Christiane Ehses, is a member of the Sinfonia Königswinter and has a long-standing musical collaboration with Felix Reckers, with whom she has already celebrated numerous successes, such as first prizes at “Musizierende Jugend” and “Jugend musiziert” in North Rhine-Westphalia
