We Forge the Future was the name of the Laibach performance that took place on 23/April 1983 as part of the XII. Music Biennial Zagreb. As a result of a fierce public and media campaign against the music group, Laibach was formally banned in Yugoslavia until 1987. The band was formed in 1980 in Trbovlje, an industrial coal-mining town in central Slovenia. For the performance at the Gorki Theater, Laibach will add to the program new interpretations of songs they were supposed to perform in Trbovlje in 1980 with Rdeči revirji (Red Districts), their first multimedia project that challenged the glaring contradictions of the political and cultural situation in the country, but was banned. These interpretations were released on 1/January 2023 on the album Sketches of the Red Districts (GOD Records).
