In the organizer's words:
On Good Friday, Christians commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus. It is a day of deep sorrow, which also speaks from Benjamin Britten's powerful confession against war. Poems by the poet Wilfred Owen, killed at the age of 25 in World War I, and the Latin text of the Mass for the Dead alternate in his accusatory "War Requiem," premiered in 1962 in Coventry Cathedral, which was destroyed by the German Luftwaffe in 1940 and rebuilt.
