The focus is on two key works of the Romantic period: Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto in E minor and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, both characterized by great emotional depth and dramatic tension in the melancholy key of E minor. The evening will open with the overture to the "Faust" tragedy by Emilie Mayer, one of the most important female composers of the Romantic period, who was already praised as the "female Beethoven" during her lifetime. This concert evening promises a summit meeting between two extraordinary musicians: the top violinist Bomsori and Joana Mallwitz, chief conductor of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin. Virtuosity, presence, clarity and a warm, full-bodied violin tone: Bomsori is regarded as one of the most dynamic and exciting violinists of our time. Between lyrically touching and virtuosically sparkling, she demonstrates all her violin artistry in Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's Violin Concerto. She has long been a star in her home country of Korea, and her incomparable stage presence is also inspiring audiences here in Germany.
Joana Mallwitz is one of the most influential conductors of her generation. She has been Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin since the 2023/24 season. Her artistic approach combines analytical precision with great emotional intensity - for her, music is created "through the head into the heart and into the body." The exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist was awarded the OPUS Klassik "Conductor of the Year" for her CD recording "The Kurt Weill Album" with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin.
