Robbery-Homicide? Or is there more to the death of Sylvia Clark? Sherlock Holmes, cleverly placed in the present by Beate Baum, investigates the employer of the slain young woman as well as her lover. And what about the domestic help smuggled illegally to England?
Secrets point to the highest government circles, to which the detective has no access. And his formerly all-powerful brother Mycroft has been sidelined. Time for the disparate brothers to band together and challenge the suspects.
Born in Dortmund, Beate Baum worked as a journalist for the Westfälische Rundschau and the WAZ before moving first to Thuringia, then to England and finally to Dresden. To this day, she is often on the road in the British Isles, and she also knows London as an insider. This is evident in her Sherlock Holmes detective novels. In the three books so far, there are insights into the life of the capital beyond the tourist attractions. This also includes the fact that the detective stories always deal with current social and political problems. The German Sherlock Holmes Society wrote of Mycroft's comeback: "In addition to the actual detective story surrounding the death of Sylvia Clark, critical issues regarding the political situation in Great Britain, corruption in government, and the miserable situation in which the British health care system finds itself are interwoven into the story in a forceful yet sensitive and entertaining manner."
