It smells of cinnamon, mulled wine, all kinds of baked goods, bratwurst, hay and mistletoe. Visitors browse and marvel at the artisans' market stalls. Music plays and children laugh here and there. Anyone who has been to the traditional arts and crafts market "wintersonnenWERKE" at the Mueß open-air museum usually comes back again and again. Every year, many visitors appreciate the cozy and informal atmosphere between the atmospherically illuminated farm cottages and barns at the winter solstice on the 4th weekend in Advent.

Anyone looking for a unique gift idea for the present table will find a wide range of ideas at the Advent market. Here you will find accessories and unique items that you won't find anywhere else. Lots of natural materials, original and fascinating. Rare pieces elaborately designed and combined with different materials. Artists and craftspeople present their products made of amber, precious stones, glass, ceramics, metal, paper, linen, wool, silk... in the houses and on the market square. Find your favorite pieces to give away!

There's something to discover here and there in farmhouses and barns: Christmas stories and fairy tales read aloud, Christmas carols sung, Low German texts and songs at Christmas time, a historical lesson in the old village school, a children's carousel at the museum café... In the kitchen of the Büdnerei, the "Mueßer Familie" - historical actors from 1900 - cook and bake many a delicacy for tasting and snacking at the old hearth. Next door in the smithy, museum blacksmith Heiko Holz demonstrates his skills with red-hot metal.

Pastries, hot food from the grill, crepes, punch, mulled wine and great live music invite you to linger here and there in a cozy, festive and dimly lit atmosphere. Buildings, trees and market hustle and bustle are magically and colorfully illuminated.

With an admission ticket, visitors automatically take part in the raffle. Admission costs 2 euros for visitors over 140 cm tall and Free admission for all smaller visitors. Artisans and the open-air museum contribute original and surprising offers for the raffle.
