The Kunstkarussell is an intergenerational workshop format for children and adults at the Kunsthalle and Kunstmuseum Bremerhaven. A special edition is being created for the summer stage: an educational theater workshop between museum and stage, between art and theater.
In the workshop, we will try out together how art can move from the museum into the urban space. The starting point is the current presentation of the collection in the art museum: who decides what is shown - and how? And what happens if we change these rules? We playfully develop our own exhibition ideas, invent forms of presentation and experiment with how art can also be discovered outside the museum. In the process, small improvised scenes and performative actions are created in which art, theater and urban space come together.
Verena Wais is a theater and dance teacher. She studied philosophy and theater pedagogy and works at the Junges Theater Bremen as well as a freelance theater and dance pedagogue and audio writer. In her work, she deals with breaking up classical theater spaces and with power-critical perspectives on theater institutions and practices. A particular focus is on forms of artistic mediation that question existing exclusions and break down barriers. In doing so, it refers to the aesthetics of access and understands accessibility as part of artistic practice and as an invitation to rethink how art is created and for whom it is accessible.
The workshop is aimed at children aged 6 and over and adults. Participation is free of charge.
