Artist Talk with Noha Mokhtar
As part of the Biennale für Freiburg 3, art historian Prof. Dr. Birgit Hopfener will be in conversation with the artist Noha Mokhtar.
Noha Mokhtar (she/her) is a Swiss-Egyptian artist, anthropologist and editor. Her research focuses on the relationship between space, kinship and materiality. She works in the fields of photography, video, installation and text. In her practice, Mokhtar seeks a critical engagement with concepts of culture, history, family and power by examining the mechanisms of reproduction of places, objects and bodies. Mokhtar's projects often oscillate between fiction and non-fiction. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Social Anthropology and Critical Media Practice at Harvard University and is co-founder of the transdisciplinary publishing platform Edition Hors Sujet.
The event will be held in English.
