While many male jazz singers at this stage of their much-lauded careers tend to stick to the tried and tested, Elling seems to be growing more ambitious and experimental with time, as reflected in his stunning new LP 'SuperBlue: The Iridescent Spree'. A follow-up to 2021's remarkable 'SuperBlue', on this album Elling once again teams up with producer/guitarist Charlie Hunter and the multi-instrumentalist duo of drummer Corey Fonville and bassist/keyboardist DJ Harrison to create a kaleidoscopic collection of new songs, surprising covers and dynamic reinventions.
