Kutzkelina & Ribo Choir - "My Favourite Spells "

On her new album " My Favourite Spells" , Kutzkelina - the Berlin-based vocal artist, composer and multidisciplinary musician Doreen Kutzke - has brought her longstanding choir into the studio with her. The songs are dedicated to female figures from mythology - often banished, cursed or marginalized. For example, the nymph Echo, who is condemned to eternal repetition and ultimately disappears from society and her own body. The album is carried by reduced electronic arrangements and the characteristic sound of the autoharp. "My Favorite Spells" is a musical narrative about self-assertion, memory and resistance. Kutzkelina and the Ribo Choir give a voice to those women who were silenced or banished in mythical tales. Singing and yodeling, the choir brings their stories back to life.
