The silent movie Metropolis with live choral music? Choir Kwajr and the famous American jazz musician Michael Moore make it possible. They make music to scenes from the 1927 classic film.
Kwajr, under the direction of Merlijn Wackers, has selected choral music from six centuries for the musical background. Works by Mozart or Arvo Pärt, but also pieces by lesser-known composers will be performed. Michael Moore will improvise on clarinet and saxophone.
The filmWith Metropolis, director Fritz Lang was far ahead of his time: an early science fiction film with utopian, religious but also socially critical elements and with spectacular special effects for its time. It was the most expensive film of all time. Until today it has lost nothing of its topicality.

Michael MooreMoore is one of the great woodwind players of the Dutch jazz scene. The US-American has been living and working in the Netherlands for many years. He is active with various ensembles and has produced more than thirty CDs on his own label Ramboy.
