LA DEUTSCHE VITA - Versuch einer Italienischwerdung

In the organizer's words:

Come with us to Italy, to the land where the lemons bloom...

The Germans' longing for Italy has many beginnings and is far from over - be it Goethe's "Italian Journey" and his "Mignon" in the 18th century, be it Catherina's Valentine's request in the hit song of the 1950s - to this day, Germans long for the so often sung and described dolce vita and dolce farniente, for glistening sun and azure skies, for gelato al limon and an almost unbearable lightness of being.

David Maier, Matthias Schärf and Boris C. Motzki examine this phenomenon, the attempt to become Italian, so to speak, in their third program (in German). Motzki examine this phenomenon in their third program (after "Democracy is coming" and "Berauschet euch!") using German, English and Italian songs from Adriano Celentano to Dean Martin to Gianmaria Testa and texts from Giuseppe Ungaretti to Luigi Pirandello to Ernest Hemingway.
