On February 16 and 22, we will be showing IM SCHATTEN DER TRÄUME and accompanying films with the subversive songs by Michael Jary and Bruno Balz. Many of them for Zarah Leander - including "Der Wind hat mir ein Lied erzählt" (La Habanera), for which the lyrics are by Bruno Balz but the music is by Lothar Brühne. It was Detlef Sierck's last film before he emigrated to the USA to escape the threat of persecution by the National Socialists. Zarah Leander plays a young Swedish woman who comes to Puerto Rico, falls in love with an arrogant, rich landowner and only later realizes her mistake.
