"News of the Universe" is an album born out of adversity, a work of dark, beautiful psychedelia that reflects Cleveland's experience of her own world spinning out of control following a breast cancer diagnosis shortly after the birth of her son.

The first single "Strange World" is a song in the soft-psych-rock style that we have come to expect from LA LUZ. Shana Cleveland comments:

"It's been a strange and difficult few years, and at moments, I have found myself rushing to move forward in time, to leave the present and escape to whatever is next. The best advice a friend gave me during a time when I was feeling particularly overwhelmed and battling consecutive panic attacks was to go outside, take my shoes off, and sit with my feet on the earth. This seemed to slow the universe down in a way that made it feel easier to handle. So this chorus is something of a mantra to myself 'we'll be fine, just take your time."

LA LUZ from California have been loved by fans and press alike since their inception in 2012, as they manage the balancing act between chaos and bittersweetness.

Each new record is a further tweak to their blend of sultry riffs and angelic vocals that borrow from pop and folk; a band so reliably great that it makes the huge step forward in confidence and sheer musicianship that "News of the Universe" makes all the more impressive.
