LaBess is a journey that begins in Algiers, in the working-class district of Hussein-Dey, where Nedjim Bouizzoul grows up surrounded by North African Chaâbi music. A journey that took him to Québec at the age of 18 with his mother and sisters. There he founded LaBess and opened up his music to the four winds of the world: African sounds, gypsy rumba, flamenco and chaâbi music... which is always present. Influences that carry a voice in several languages: dialectal Arabic, Algerian, Spanish, French. But the journey does not end here. Nedjim euphorizes the concert halls in America, North Africa, France, where he has been living for several years, and we are looking forward to seeing him again on 27.09.25 at the Knust.
