LAS Art Foundation präsentiert Laure Prouvost: WE FELT A STAR DYING

In the organizer's words:

In her multi-sensory installation, the artist opens up a unique exploration of quantum computing.

2025 marks the centenary of the discovery of quantum physics, which has fundamentally changed our understanding of the universe ever since. Today, its applications suggest a global paradigm shift. After two years of development and exclusive access to a quantum computer, Laure Prouvost presents LAS, a new multisensory installation.

As we approach a new age characterized by quantum technologies, artist Laure Prouvost asks the question: "How could we experience reality from a quantum perspective?" Prouvost combines video, sound, scent, sculpture and scenography to create an expansive installation that is tailored to the highly sensitive and unpredictable properties of quantum computers. In her new project, Prouvost combines playful, experimental techniques that shift her audience's perception with the counter-intuitive logic of quantum physics. The commissioned work will be shown at Kraftwerk Berlin, a former thermal power station, and opens up a variety of perspectives on the technological developments of our time in this post-industrial space.

The project is the result of conversations between the artist and the philosopher Tobias Rees and the scientist Hartmut Neven. Through their collaboration, Laure Prouvost gained access to a quantum computer and was able to experiment with a specially developed AI quantum model that was trained on data from quantum calculations.

Laure Prouvost's project opens the LAS Art Foundation's quantum program, which will include further installations, a public symposium and a publication until 2026.
