As part of the "Late Night Cult Movies" series, the Kino im Planetarium presents movies with cult status. On the last Friday and Saturday of the month, we show carefully selected films - popular classics as well as exciting new releases. Berlin Calling

Berlin electro composer Martin Karow, aka DJ Ickarus, tours the world's clubs from gig to gig with his girlfriend and manager Mathilde. They share a bed, music studio and office in their Berlin apartment. Mathilde increasingly criticizes Ickarus for his excessive drug use, but their love and their common goal, the release of the new album, welds the two together. After a performance, Ickarus loses his bearings and ends up in the emergency drug ward of a Berlin mental hospital. His constant relapses jeopardize both the album release and his relationship with Mathilde.

The film paints a fictional portrait of a musician in Berlin in the early 2000s. Art and madness, intoxication and ecstasy, friendship and family, music, love and the lust for life.

Techno star Paul Kalkbrenner fills the role of the DJ congenially. After almost 20 years, he delves into Berlin's techno world with the legendary Bar 25 and Club Maria.
