Latin Musicality Festival - Salsa & Bachata in Kassel

Three days of salsa, bachata, music, and social dancing right in the heart of Kassel: From October 9 to 11, 2026, the Latin Musicality Festival will bring together dancers from a variety of styles.

The focus isn’t on the next complicated sequence of steps, but on what makes dancing special: truly listening to the music and playing along with it.

What happens when the percussion suddenly stops? How can you use a break together with your dance partner? How does your dance change when you listen not only to the beat but also to the instruments, melody, vocals, and dynamics?

That’s exactly what the Latin Musicality Festival is all about.

In about 25 workshops, everything revolves around salsa and bachata in various styles—including Cuban, Línea, Bachata Sensual, and Dominican. International and national artists will show you how to bring more musicality, expression, and connection to your dance.

And of course, it’s not just about learning: On Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as at the social on Sunday, you can dance on up to three floors, meet new people, and put what you’ve learned to the test right on the dance floor. On Saturday, the festival program also features live shows.

The two venues—the Schlachthof Kassel Cultural Center and the adjacent Philipp-Scheidemann-Haus —will become the gathering place for the salsa and bachata community for the weekend.

Whether you dance salsa or bachata—or feel at home in both worlds—the festival is aimed at social dancers with a foundation in the styles, as well as advanced dancers who want to do more than just learn new steps; they want to dance in a more musical, mindful, and connected way.
