Latin Night with "Que Pasa" at Joly's Live Music Bar
I have been working with singer Claudia Wandt for many years in the supreme discipline of musical dialog - the duo. Claudia is a singer with an affinity for tango and chanson with an expressive, versatile voice that can pull out many emotional stops. I enjoy staging her voice with my guitars and the looper. At the same time, I have enough freedom for my own improvisations, sounds and rhythms. As we don't like to commit ourselves musically or live it up, we called ourselves ¡Que Pasa! which means "What's happening!"
¡QuePasa! sound like classy jazz feeling, singer-songwriter elegance, cheerful-melancholic gipsy swing, Rio de la Plata and a longing for the south and sometimes seem to have fallen out of time because they are devoted to the old classics, hits and standards. They draw from the endless musical grab bag of Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Hilde Knef, Katie Melua, Norah Jones, Johnny Cash, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Bob Marley, Sting, Melody Gardot, Rebekka Bakken and others. Increasingly, own compositions/songs are also being given space at the concerts.
Claudia Wandt - vocals, moderation, hand percussion, piano
