Lausche dem Wind. Ein musikalisches Gespräch

In the organizer's words:

Dance and vocal artist Yuko Matsuyama invites multi-instrumentalist Taylor Savvy to set sound in motion. The two will accompany you with voice, ear and mindfulness.

This musical conversation is inspired by the people who have carried cultures around the world - artists, merchants, monks and nuns, priests and wanderers who traveled through landscapes like the wind in a time without airplanes. The silenced musical instruments in the museum's display cases evoke thoughts and fantasies of these dancing and musical travelers.

Taylor Savvy: Canadian, Berliner by choice and multi-instrumentalist. Studied music in Montreal and played in various bands in Toronto before the Canadian singer Peaches brought him to Berlin. Collaboration with Peaches, Chilly Gonzales, Jamie Lidell, Iggy Pop, Feist, Stereo Total, Bonaparte and others.

2001 Release of the album Ladies and Gentleman. Has appeared in film and television productions (e.g. "Babylon Berlin"). Compositions for theater, film, video games and advertising. Also DJ, music teacher and artist consultant. Currently on tour with Chilly Gonzales. Also plays at the Schaubühne Berlin in Vernon Subutex 1 by Virginie Despentes, directed by Thomas Ostermeier (2021).

Yuko Matsuyamo is a voice and movement artist. Her mother and master of Nihon Buyoh (classical Japanese dance) introduced her to dance at the age of two. She completed her theater training at the age of 17 and joined the musical company Takarazuka Revue (Japan), where she performed in their own productions, international tours and well-known musicals. Since moving to Berlin in 2010, she has been exploring the intersection between dance and music with live performances as an experimental platform.

In 2017 she received her M. A. Choreography at the HZT Berlin (HfS Ernst Busch and UDK Berlin). Her workshops, lectures and lecture performances have been shown at the UDK Berlin, the HZT Berlin, Casina Settarte (Italy), the Berlin Asia Arts Festival and currently at the Ethnological Museum & Museum of Asian Art in the Humboldt Forum Berlin.
