LEERSTELLEN, EINE BESCHWÖRUNG is a performance and a celebration of ghosts. Between presence and absence, a magical space is created in which gestures, movements, words and sounds flash, fade and leave traces like fragmentary black and white photographs.
The performance is based on an examination of gaps in the (family) biographies of Mareike Buchmann and Theresa Lawrenz. In their joint work, the artists conjure up these empty spaces, searching for magic and possibilities of transformation within them. They practise speculation, invent rituals of emptying and gently touch the edges of the past.
LEERSTELLEN, EINE BESCHWÖRUNG is an artistic reflection in which traces of memories, absent people and speculated stories interweave to create a friendly, amicable present - in which ghosts, the personal and the common meet.
The performance is also an invitation to be inspired by one's own memories.
