WHAT IS A ONE-DAY CHOIR?

A One-Day Choir is an opportunity to be part of a choir for a single day - we celebrate singing and the unifying power of harmony. It is an opportunity to build community, make new friends and unite our powerful, diverse voices into one.

All are welcome. no previous experience. no concert. no perfection.

Just sing together in a room with people in harmony and create something greater!

Whether you've been singing in vocal ensembles for many years or this is your first time in a group, you are welcome here. All levels of experience are valuable and will be considered.

OUR SONG THIS TIME

This time we're really going for it: We're throwing ourselves into the legendary Backstreet Boys hit "Larger Than Life " - a song full of power, goosebumps and good vibes.

"Larger Than Life" feels like a collective push forward: being loud, standing together, giving everything. It's about energy, connection and that indescribable feeling when music makes us bigger than the moment itself.

Let's light up the room together - with voices, rhythm and a unique connection.
Celebrate the music, celebrate yourselves and celebrate the "we" as we create a bold choral version of this classic - arranged by Martin Lorenz.

REHEARSE THE SONG

You will be sent sheet music and vocal recordings for the individual parts as learning material one week before the event. If you have the time and feel like it, take a look and listen to the parts and the original so that we can work musically on the day. It's not at all necessary to know everything by heart (and you definitely don't have to memorize the song!), but the more confident we are with our parts, the more fun we can have together!

LED AND GUIDED BY:

This session will be led by our choir directors Diana Labrenz and Elmar Kühn !

Diana Labrenz (she/her) is a singer, choir director and vocal coach in Leipzig. She studied jazz/popular singing at the University of Music and Theater "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" Leipzig, was a member of the Leipzig a cappella group VOXID and appeared on stage in "König Ubu / Ubus Prozess" and "Luna Luna" at Schauspiel Leipzig, among others. She regularly works with various choirs and vocal ensembles and is a vocal coach for the Young Voices Brandenburg and conducts the Westklang choir from Leipzig, among other projects.

In addition to her artistic work as a singer in the band Jamtonic, she is passionate about passing on her experience in vocal coaching and choir conducting. In her work, she combines vocal technique with expression, presence and the joy of making music together.

She loves creating spaces in which people can discover their voice and experience musical moments together, regardless of previous experience. She is all the more delighted to lead One-Day Choir events and connect people through the power of singing together.

Elmar Kühn (er/he) is a singer, beatboxer and loop station artist as well as the choirmaster of several pop choirs in Leipzig. He also teaches as a music teacher at an independent school. For him, the human voice in all its facets is a magical means of expression - especially polyphonic singing, which he experiences as something unifying and powerful. With creative ideas and a great deal of enthusiasm, Elmar knows how to create spaces in which singing together brings joy, community and musical energy. In addition to his musical work, Elmar also performs on stage as a stand-up comedian. He is very much looking forward to leading several One-Day Choir events this year with many singing enthusiasts.

CANCELLATION & TICKETS
We want as many people as possible to have the chance to be there - places are limited and everyone counts.

Important: Tickets cannot be canceled, refunded or rebooked. They are also non-transferable. We need the proceeds to rent the room and pay our wonderful leaders.

If you can't come after all, please let us know at least 24 hours in advance - then we can pass your place on to the waiting list. A refund is unfortunately not possible.

The One-Day Choir Collective is a creative community of singing people across Germany. Our mission is to create connecting, playful and accessible spaces for making music together - spaces for expression, growth, freedom and letting go through music. Spaces where we explore the healing potential of collective music and improvisation. Spaces where people can express themselves freely - without judgment or expectation - and where we can meet other people as our authentic selves and make new friends.

Everyone is welcome in this community.

We celebrate people of all ages, backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, religions, physical abilities, social backgrounds, languages and musical levels. All we ask of you is an open mind, a desire to connect - and a willingness to leave any kind of (self-)judgment at the door.

We believe that making music - together with others - is a fundamental human practice. This project creates space for exactly that - especially at a time when such opportunities have become rare.

The One-Day Choir Collective wants to break down the separation between audience and artists and create experiences where we are all part of the musical process. We want to provide a network and platform for people to rediscover themselves musically, connect with each other and unleash their creativity through play and collaboration.
