In the organizer's words:
When Eli has put the child to bed and feels the confines of her own four walls, she escapes to the bar next door. Gunda has been standing behind the bar there for almost twenty years. When a summer heat wave sweeps over the city, they retreat into the cool pub, drape damp sheets over the urban concrete jungle, and chisel away at the asphalt sidewalk. As they do so, they tell their stories: of Gunda’s life in the GDR, caught between obedience and critical thinking, and of Eli’s agonizing gaze at her perpetually empty bank account and the difficulty of doing justice to her own child as a mother without losing herself in the process.
