Polish satire meets German-French stubbornness: in keeping with the motto "Derriére le rire - behind the laughter", two pairs of artists find their way onto the stage of the Centralkomitee in Hamburg St. Georg: the German-French band LES MARIES - Marie-Laure Timmich and Klaus Sieg - from Hamburg and the co-founders and operators of the "Club of Polish Failures" and authors of the book of the same name, Adam Gusowski and Piotr Mordel from Berlin. The combination of LES MARIES' darkly humorous chamber pop with influences from Americana and chanson noir and Adam and Piotr's anarchic satirical banter is stunning. With both, the laughter gets stuck in your throat. The knock behind the teeth. The lump in your throat. Adam Gusowski and Piotr Mordel talk about Polish illegal workers, naturalization rituals, culinary similarities and German failures. LES MARIES sing about the waiting room of love, the romance of two mussels or about the rock'n roll off-season, which means more than empty beach chairs, faded colors and deserted bars.
