In the organizer's words:
Come join us for a reading of “Brother Enno and the Heart of Störtebeker” on July 4, 2026, at your Hugendubel bookstore on Osterstraße in Norden!
This gripping medieval mystery follows the young monk Enno, who is tasked with investigating witchcraft and finds himself caught in a whirlwind of superstition, ancient vows, and forbidden love. Meanwhile, a bitter power struggle erupts among the Frisian chieftains for supremacy in the Sixth Lake District—and right in the middle of it all: the legendary “Sea Wolf” Klaus Störtebeker, who risks not only alliances but also his heart.
About the Author:
Born in 1972 in Hanover, Maike Salhofen returned to East Frisia after an odyssey through half of Germany and lived there until she graduated from high school in Aurich. She studied German language and literature and history in Münster and Leipzig; and has been married to a medieval historian since 2000. History is so present in her everyday life that it influences the themes she chooses in her writing. She spent several years in Australia and now lives with her family in Markkleeberg near Leipzig, where she teaches German and history at a high school.
