Ella wants to become an artist. Excluded from the Düsseldorf Art Academy as a woman, she went to paint in the artists' village of Worpswede with Fritz Mackensen and Otto Modersohn. Paula Modersohn-Becker became her great role model. Her encounters and experiences with artists such as Clara Westhoff, Hermine and Fritz Overbeck and Heinrich Vogeler soon made Ella doubt her future with her fiancé Karl. She is also fascinated by the French artist Luc, who tells her about the Parisian art scene ...
