On January 11, 2026 at 6 pm, the author Wendy Nikolaizik invites you to a reading at K.I.S.S. Freiburg (Lehener Str. 47). Admission is free.
Wendy Nikolaizik is one of those literary voices who uncompromisingly look where it hurts. Her texts tell of outsiders, anger, loyalty and the pursuit of justice. She writes about classism, addiction, feminist struggles and trying to find her own way, always from the perspective of those who are rarely at the center of society.
Born in the Ruhr Valley, she now lives in Freiburg. As a child of the working class, she takes a literary look at structures that are designed to keep people down - and the courage to resist these structures. Nikolaizik's language is direct, approachable and political. Her novels "Guck mal, die Asis" and "Guck nicht, wer wir heute sind" get to the heart of the complexity of young identity between rebellion, vulnerability and cohesion. She writes about what moves people without sugarcoating it.
At the event, Nikolaizik will present novel excerpts, texts and short stories, including insights into unpublished projects. The audience can look forward to realistic dialogs, clear feminist attitudes and literary warmth. Her readings are not just book presentations: They are about perspectives, questions and the desire to change society for the better.
