In the organizer's words:

The "Lichtspiele des Westens" will continue to light up Karl-Heine-Straße and the surrounding neighborhood in 2025. What once began as a local initiative has become an integral part of Leipzig's winter city culture. Residents, tradespeople and artists work together to create a diverse program of light and art that transforms the Plagwitz-Lindenau district into an atmospheric winter wonderland.

Between 4 and 9 p.m. on December 6, façade projections, light installations in shop windows and numerous performances will be presented. The public space along Boulevard Heine will be staged for the occasion, inviting visitors to stroll, discover and linger. The event is aimed at all age groups and combines artistic interventions with community involvement in the neighborhood.

The project is organized by Schaubühne Lindenfels, which implements the initiative in close cooperation with the neighbourhood. The "Lichtspiele des Westens" is funded by the City of Leipzig, the Cultural Office, the Saxon State Ministry for Science, Culture and Tourism and the Cultural Foundation of the Free State of Saxony.
